Such a great idea! Everyone has buttons laying around. I know I have a box full of buttons just sitting there collecting dust. Check out Letter Perfect Designs on Etsy for more designs.
Last year, I made my very first DIY coaster using paper napkins but I never did a blog post about it. A few weeks ago, I made coasters again because my friend was having a house warming party and I knew I wanted to make something, so I thought why not make coasters! And I figured that I should share this with you guys this time.
I found the tutorial on Curbly but I tweaked it a bit. Last year when I made coasters I used the waterproof glue E-6000 to glue the felt at the bottom of the tile, however E-6000 smells very toxic. Seriously, I must have lost some brain cells using it. So to avoid using E-6000 again, I purchased self adhesive felt from Michael’s and it worked just fine.
Material Needed (read below to see what I changed):
- Plain ‘4 x ‘4white tile coasters (I purchased mine at Home Depot)
- Mod podge – (purchased Matte Mat-Mate from Michael’s)
- small paint brush
- decorative napkins (I used napkins the first time and the second time I used wrapping paper)
- Polyurethane (I used Diamond Wood Finish Water Based, Semi Gloss)
- Squares of thin cork or felt (I purchased self adhesive felt at Michael’s and cut into squares)
- Water proof glue (Do not use E-6000, it smells very toxic and can make you dizzy – seriously, it even says it on the glue. If you purchase self adhesive felt, you don’t need glue)
They reuse and rebuild custom furniture with reclaimed material. My green heart loves this! Check out some of their pieces. My fav (and possibly future table) is the wooden table with the metal legs. LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!
Thanks to LBB for telling me about the Junction Area!
Check out Forever Interiors website for more reclaimed wood furniture.
I’m a sucker for romance and of course the cheesy, sappy, romantic movies. I love it all. I can watch Titanic over and over (only part 1), I’ve seen Dirty Dancing a million times and I still cry when I watch the Notebook. I just LOVE it!
I recently watched “Crazy, Stupid, Love” on dvd and of course I LOVED it. For all you Ryan Gosling fans out there, you will not be disappointed (hello sauna scene!).
Speaking of amour (that’s love in french if you didn’t know), Style Me Pretty posted this adorable proposal video. This is so sweet! Enjoy!
Thinking of hanging wallpaper in our bedroom or bathroom. Here are some wallpaper designs that have caught my eye…
What do you think?
And do you have any tips for hanging wallpaper?
It’s been a while since I’ve updated. I’ve been having too much fun this summer!
I wanted to share with you another towel wedding cake by yours truly. This is my second towel wedding cake, and I love how it turned out.
I didn’t know what design I was aiming for. All knew was that I wanted to find a black and white ribbon. I first went to Dollarama, but didn’t find any nice ribbon there, so decided to head to Michaels. The flowers and the purple ribbon are from Dollarama. Click here to see the tutorial on how to do a towel wedding cake.
A towel wedding cake is a fun and creative shower gift and I love making them. Too bad I can’t make a real wedding cake. Maybe one day….
So what do you guys think?
